Bethlehem Diary, Volume II

Tuesday, January 12

Your thoughts are so very deep. Ps. 92:6 [5]. We children cannot fathom them, for we can hardly reach the path which we already find in front of us. Because today is the English New Year all of our English brethren and sisters had a cordial lovefeast. Br. Schnell went to Mackunschy to preach there. Br. Anton and Seidel returned from the Blue Mountains and could not say enough in describing how happy and industrious the brethren at work there are in their bushy green huts and what delightful accommodations they have made for themselves. In the evening a Singstunde was held in English. Our musicians had composed a pretty cantata in English, which brought real blessing as it was sung. It is the first that has been composed in Bethlehem.
