The Married Br. Friedrich Führer [Fuehrer], aged 80 years, 5 months, and 13 days. He was born here on September 15, 1768, where he was baptized soon after his birth and later received [the privilege of] enjoying the Holy Communion. Not quite 54 years ago (in the year 1794) he entered into the state of Holy Marriage with the Single Sr. Anna Barbara Knauss, which marriage was blessed with 2 sons and 3 daughters. He had 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, of whom 2 grandchildren and 1 grandchild, as well as one daughter, are no longer living. He took care of the ferry on ["over" was written and then stricken out] the Lehigh until the bridge was built, whereupon he occupied himself entirely with farming until 29 years ago, when he gave the business over to his son Joseph, with whom he has lived uninterrupted since that time. About 15 years ago he had the misfortune to fall under a loaded wagon and break a leg. This was a difficult time of testing for him, since he was laid up for 8 weeks. Since this accident he has been lame, although he could nonetheless continue with his accustomed activities. A cold which he caught about 5 weeks ago caused an unusually heavy cough which produced ["caused" was written and then crossed out] severe back pains and required him to lay himself down. After he had been confined to bed for about 5 days it became clear that his end was drawing near. A few hours before it [came], he declared himself ready to depart and be with Christ. Shortly after the blessing of the LORD and the congregation for a blessed completion was imparted to him, he passed away at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 13 days.
