May 22 RAU, Simon, b Apr. 24, 1818 near Schoenersville, Lehigh
  County, the oldest of ten children of Valentine and Elizabeth, mn. Fenner; came to Bethlehem in 1825, and at the age of 12 commenced his career as apothecary; entered the employ of Dr. Everhard Freytag, druggist, on Main St., the present site of the Simon Rau & Co. drug store; in 1839 he purchased the business, and in 1849, David Rau, a brother, became his assistant in the store; in 1860 Robert Rau, a son of David, entered as an assistant, and in 1865, his own son, Eugene A. Rau, to whom he sold his interest in the business In 1889; served several terms in Town Council, and on the various church boards; d Aug. 9, 1910 in Bethlehem.
LUCKENBACH, Lucy Ann, b Oct. 9, 1816 in Goshen, 0., a dau. f Rev. Abraham and Rosina, mn. Heckedorn; in 1820 accompanied her parents and sister to New Fairfield, Canada, where for 23 years her father was a missionary to the Indians; in 1825 came to Bethlehem to be educated; taught in the Young Ladies' Seminary from 1840-1842; sang in the church choir; d Jan. 16, 1913 in Bethlehem. Only son, Eugene A., d in 1932.

HERMAN, Sophia Amalia, b Feb. 14, 1822 in Newport, R.I., a dau. of Bishop John G. (Pastor in Bethlehem) and Anna Pauline, mn. Shober; d Mar. 21, 1885 in Salem, N.C. Issue, two sons and five daughters.
