William Horsfield (1770-1845)
The Married Brother William Horsefield was born here on the 2nd of June 1770. On the 31st of March 1784 he was received into the congregation in Nazareth and he requested [the privilege of] enjoying the Holy Communion for the first time on the 13th of August 1787. On the 27th of April 1794 he entered into marriage with the Single Sr. Rebecca Weise, which marriage was blessed with three children, all of whom have died.* After he had served the congregation store in Nazareth for about 5 years, he moved back to Bethlehem 1799 and then in 1801 to Emmaus, where he pursued the mercantile business on his own account until he moved back here in 1825. Here he built himself a house in which he lived until his end which occurred peacefully as the result of a wasting sickness. His pilgrimage here below lasted 74 years, 8 months, and 6 days. *He had 7 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren, 3 of whom have died.
